i was just reading something on the proboard forums and someone said something about holding regular contests. that could be fun? maybe? a little? i've noticed domriver and fireflyprince have started threads about 'create your own sequel' and while i personally haven't been able to think of a decent storyline to contribute, i think that they're onto something. and i think that if there was an official contest section, it would get more attention, rather than being bumped off the 'last updated' block and possibly overlooked. other than that, i don't know what kind to have though. maybe someone with a fully functional brain can think of something better. *bangs helmet on keyboard*

where'd the mods go?
good point, gregory wilson. bragging rights? what would be a reasonable expectation for a prize?

Contests can vary from Member Competition to Fan Works Contests like Best Fan Art / Fiction to pinning characters against each other to see who tops all of them. These are common contests I've seen in the forums I am a member of.
As for prizes, they can range from getting the bragging rights or glory that they've won; or a specialized graphic for them to display on their signature; or maybe advertising rights. There are many things, which of all whom the Admin, PrincessJennifer, would see fit since there are no Mods.

thank you, princess meg, those are wonderful ideas! i especially like the death match idea. and i'd be willing to contribute graphics for winning entries.
and in the absence of mods, i'm curious to know where, oh where, has princessjennifer gone? have we been abandoned? hm, wonder where i've seen that before...

I would participate, if possible. 'Make Your Own Sequal' would be interesting.

There are many problems with doing a contest though. I am currently running a contest on my Clock Tower forum, but no one has even entered yet-no contest is fun without a good amount of entries. It is hard enough to get prizes, especially for something as new as Rule of Rose, and I have to make sure it would be possible for those prizes to be shipped out of the country in the case the winner lives far away.

I can't imagine what you would give as a prize, at least an RoR related prize. Maybe a brooch or a bucket knight? Or a red crayon? Or a freaky Diana doll? There's not too much that would get people going and RoR related.
As for a simple contest with no real prize, how about a popularity tournament for favorite character in a horror? Have voting on two characters at a time (like Diana v Sae or Brown v the dog from Haunting Ground) and work your way till the last one?

I extend my support and loyalty to the idea of a sequel contest. What would it entail? Surely a character sheet and synopsis, but maybe something more. fireflyprince's thread is pretty telltale as to everything that should be included like enemy designs, bosses, etc.
maybe a prize for this contest would be for some of the artists on here to create "official" artwork of the winning sequel.
