I think she's kind of refering to how everything was in the characters heads and not really happening in real life. Only certain things would actually manifest in the house. Which I found to be alot scarrier because I do believe it's possible for things in dreams to manifest in real life.
Three was definately my favorite, and scared me more than two, but One was still pretty unerving.
