It took me forever to finish reading it without being interrupted, sorry for the late-ish comment. XD
I think it is very good and nicely descriptive, and sticks to the plotline and the feel of ROR nicely. ^_^ And I love moral #2!! XD

I think you're being far too hard on yourself--while this piece wasn't perfect, it was by no means bad; I enjoyed it a lot!
Not having gotten the bad end yet (I figured I'd let myself go for it after the second time through) I'm not sure how much of this was canon and what wasn't, but I love that line about Amanda being all insistant about the rat and the one about Diana twising Meg's arm.
As for moral #2, that's how I felt the first time I played. My boyfriend asked me what I'd do if I were kidnapped by crazy little kids and I told him I'd probably never leave the bus.

i used to be a much better writer (i was never that great, but i was able to transition better and come up with actual descriptions, unlike now where its just 'this is what happened, then this, then that, the end'), but i stopped for the better part of a year+ for lack of things to write about, and now i'm having a hard time getting back into it. this and my other one are crap, but i need the exercise and the critiques.
i'm very glad you liked it though, since i've adored your fanfics and really admire your style.
sadly for me, i don't know if i'd follow my own advice. curiousity would almost certainly get the better of me. being attacked by imps, headmasters and puking mermaids not withstanding, i also wouldn't mind being in jennifer's position, searching an old mansion/airship, uncovering old memories and clues, i love that kind of stuff.
maybe if you drove yourself?
