For those of you who have found Gregory's Diary in the Gingerbread House chapter, you probably know that it helped to clear up a lot of questions, but also raised some. Let's use this topic to discuss the diary and it's entries in full.

It just confused me some people say that he killed kids, but I don't think that but it confused me like..timeline wise, and what he was talking about. like, I couldn't understand what happened in what order. and there was like bottles all around so maybe he was drinking when he wrote, so thats why it confuses me? i dunno.

I like to think that most of the time Gregory's references to peas are actually references to children as it makes the sory more interesting. When he says he planted peas in the ground he means he's buring children, and when he says he's cleaning out the barn it's because there's a mess from, the slaughters. And when he says he fed Joshua hot pea soup it could have meant he was feeding him the dead children as he had said that he was low on money, though I think that is going a bit far but its an interesting theory.
Also in the song: "Monday's pea was a sight to see." "Tuesday's pea almost made it free." "Wednesday's pea didn't think to flee." "Stray Dog will have his peas..." if you change the words pea and peas n to words like victim or children it's very sinister.
This story that Gregory says: Stray Dog walks the streets each day, Collecting the peas as he walks to and fro; Big peas, little peas, every which kind of pea.
Come Monday, he finds a pea. Come Tuesday, he bags the pea. Come Wednesday, he shows the pea to his son. Come Thursday, the pea kicks and screams. Come Friday, he grinds up the pea. Come Saturday, he buries the pea outside; the pea is in the ground, And by Sunday, it can't be found. Good night, young pea... Good night, young pea.
Could mean that Gregory kidnapped the children to be company for Joshua as he was to ill to go out but as the children wouldn't behave, as they were kidnapped, he would kill them and bury them.
This is the theory that I like to believe is true because it adds a whole extra level to the plot.

Gregory was a pea farmer though, so he wouldn't need to feed his son children. I believe the story was just based on the kidnappings, since we know he at least read the article.

I don't doubt he was poor, but as a farmer, food was one thing it would seem they had.

It wouldn’t fit into the timeline of events anyway, Joshua had died a few months before Gregory killed the orphans.

I was talking about all the children that went missing before the orphans were murdered. I don't think there's any reference in the game to when exactly the kidnappings happened so I don't think the timeline can rule out the theory.

I’m not familiar with the specifics on those kids, could you bring me up to speed?

A thing to remember-the Gingerbread House chapter takes place in 1929, while the rest of the chapters happen in 1930. The murder of the orphans took place well over a year after that chapter.
What eryn brings up is actually best discussed in the thread about Gregory being innocent or not in the Characters section. Basically, in a room in his house, you find an article about some kids went missing, and there are a few other mentions of it in the game. People started to convince themselves he kidnapped the kids for whatever reason. There's more on it in that thread I mentioned.

But the game is not real life... the game designers had to have put the article in the game for something more than to cause people to speculate erroneously?

Again, this is not the thread for that discussion, and people have already come up with valid reasons as to why it could be there in the appropriate thread.
