Hello!!!
Before I start talking how RoR changed my life (=p), I guess it's better to introduce the basic info about me:
My name is Caio, I'm from São Paulo, Brazil, I'm 21 years old.
I like Hiphop music the most (RAP>R&B), like 2pac, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, ciara, etc.
I'm not playing much more PS2 due to time issues, but I have played a LOT of games (more than 120 easily) and sometimes I still buy one or another. between my non-RoR fav games there is Fatal Frame series, RE (All minus RE4, that was a MOH with RE name =p, well, not that much but it surely was aimed to enw players and not teh classic ones), Tekken and KOF series, MOH series (minus vanguard that was a decepction) and others I can't remember now.
I have (nerd) hobbies like playing Magic the gathering, writing fanfics (unfortunately none I can share with you guys, unless you do understand portuguese xP), drawing manga style fanarts and works. And the "normal" hobbies are the same as everyone, so I don't really need to write about it =p
Now, my history with RoR...
Once upon a time, there was a... okay, seriously now, I've always been fan of Terror and Survival Horror games. Until RoR, my favorite game was Fatal Frame (which I haven't finished it, even trying during my vacations since 2003, but it's a long story, not lacking of skill xPP). As i've said, I've not buying too many games now... one beautiful day, I decided to buy a game to my 3 months vacation... I've bought Tomb Raider Anniversary. But since my friend would take 3 and the seller said "Buy 5, pay 4", I had to choose anotehr game. not knowing on anything, besides Call of Duty 3, but it was so, without offense, "Hollywood american view of War movie", that I would only choose it if there was ANY other =p And then, i found RoR there. First, you think it's gay or subpar, afterall, used to action, horror and fighting games, Rule of Rose isn't that bloody title. But remembering I have read (misread, btw) it was like a "American Fatal frame" I thought: "Why not?", and I bought it.
And then, I realized I was wrong after the opening video. I thought it was a groud of teenagers in a old mansion or something, trying to survive, as we seen in many horror movies, but then...children?? Flying fish?? Bizarre (but addicting) music??
Oh, well... only playing it...
And everyone know RoR isn't also that "WOW" playability or "bloody action game"... normally I wouldn't play, but the characters concepts were too good. first, i couldn't stop playing bbefore I know "Why the cute girl holds a empty bird cage with sadness/cold eyes??" And more than my interes in Eleanor, it would become my identity with Diana. We are all the same, really, except I'm not the prettiest or the leader of the RCA.
And I started to play as my ritual Fatal frame... only between 1 am- 4am, with home theater and every lights off!! Playing this way, I've played 1-2 chapters/day, making it like a TV series. And everyday I wuld wait for the time to play again, thinking about the characters, why they are like that, absorbed by the great background and BGM. And then, I've finished it and well, after 7 years (really) without cry, I did the january chapter crying. And I came to realize the "a story too cruel -too beautiful- to go untold" thing. That was EXTREMELY true. I don't know, RoR had penetrate my soul and mind as no game have ever did. In fact, in the end, I wasn't angry with ANY of teh kids at all, even after what they didi. The "Once upon a Time chapter" is too beatiful... Really, I have not cried when I passed to my college (USP, for those who knows Brazil, and for who does not, it is the only public college in São Paulo), have not cried when I broke my arm and had to do 2 cirugies and I haven't cried when my grandfather died, so, I knew RoR was something special =p
And since that, I started to search forums and sites, trying to keep living the game, because if in Medal of Honor "you don't play, you volunteer", in Rule of Rose "You on't play, you LIVE it" is very true.
Well, that's my story with RoR.
Just a few more words that i think are relevant:
-Sorry for my english if it's not very good. I'm Brazillian, I know english well, but, well, non-native language is always hard to write =p
-I DO believe more in the innocence of the children and their cruelty is came from the children's natural way of thinking and behave (okay, a bit more), rather than "cruel sadist kids with darkest pasts". However, it's just my personal opinion.
-I LOVE Diana... =p
And that's all. I hope to get along with you all! Thanks for letting me joining and we see each other on the boards now!!
