i do believe i need to break the game out and double check this, however, laziness prevails. i think i've got my facts straight though... somewhere along the line, in the once upon a time chapter, jennifer says something about the airship crash that killed her parents and erased her memory. but in the little princess, it says her parents died suddenly and she was sent to live in a strange house. she also says that when people found out she had survived the crash, the massacre got overshadowed. how exactly did the crash erase her memories of the orphanage if the orphanage didn't come until after the crash? i personally would have preferred that the crash happen afterwards, she gets adopted from all the publicity, then her parents die, then she forgets after a head injury or something, but remembers everything later on, either in a dream or a coma or whatever. especially considering mention of child abductions and gregory. he could have swiped jennifer from the bus stop when she stopped by to talk to him about his stories. i don't believe thats at all how it happened, of course. too much evidence pointing to the crash preceeding the bloodbath. would've been nice and tidy, though.

Plot holes, go figure. But I agree on what your saying though.

I'll try to answer these one at a time...
She was the only person to survive that crash. I don't remember it ever saying anything about her memories being erased, but she might have forgotten about the airship when she woke up in Gregory's house.
That's true. In the storybook, when it says her parents died suddenly, there is a drawing of the airship crashing. When it says she was sent to live in a strange house, there is a drawing of Gregory dragging Jennifer's unconscious body. So, she was knocked out, maybe in a coma, after the crash. So it is possible she forgot all about the accident.
I don't think this is the case though, because she does say in the January chapter that the other kids would occasionally play airship, and she could never bring herself to join in.
I think it is more likely she repressed the memories of the airship, living with Gregory, and the orphanage after the massacre.

Um the Crash happened before the massacre of the orphange. It has to be - otherwise the story would be screwed or it wouldn't make sense

i know, my dear, i just noticed a slight hole in the logic between what we're told and something jennifer says.
i'm not arguing at all that the crash happened before the massacre, i know thats a fact, but jennifer herself says something in the final chapter that was incongruent with the story, something about the airship wiping out her memories of the massacre. i THINK. i'll have to check.

I don't remember that. If you do go back and find it, I would love to know the exact quote.

Once Upon a Time Quotes: When we examine the suitcase in Filthy Room, we get this text: <<When I came here, this suitcase was the only luggage I had. ...I lost everything in the accident. My mother, my father, my possessions, and even my memories...>> This is the script when we examine the map in the classroom: <<The map of this country... That day we flew from England... These memories were buried deep inside of me... The airship... and the accident... Thereafter, the story of my life became a tale of misfortune. Even when the others played "airship," I couldn't bear to join them, so I was left out.>> And here's the text we get when looking at the airship picture in the library: <<The future that people dreamt of never came and was soon forgotten. From the blue skies of hope, it sank into the depths of oblivion. The new life born from it was an existence devoid of hope. It slowly wriggles its large body and stares at the sky with a remorseful look... That's its only purpose.>> Finally, this is the one we can read at the gate when we leave the mansion at the end: <<The Rose Garden Orphanage... That day, I was escorted from the scene by Officer Dolittle. At first, it was reported that there were no survivors... Then, word got out that, miraculously, I had escaped the tragedy... When the rumor spread that I was also the sole survivor of a horrific airship accident in which the passengers were all presumed to be dead, the media went into a frenzy. And so, the tragic murder of all the residents of a rural orphanage were instantly bumped from the front cover of the daily newspaper to an obscure corner... I'm sorry, everyone. You don't deserve to be forgotten... But, I'll remember you. Thank you all for the precious memories...>> I don't know if you are talking about one of those above, but they are the only texts refering to memories in the script that I could find. You can check it by yourself here: db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/rule_of_rose_script.txt

My guess is that she lost the memories of the airship crash after it occured. It would no doubt be a traumatic experiance for her and all things considered, it is quite possible she was hurt. And she eventually lost the memories of the time after that when the massacre occured. That even was much more traumatic.
