Anyone else wonder what became of Thomas, Nicholas, and Xavier? They seem to suddenly disappear during the Stray Dog chapter. We see all the female orphans in the classroom, then all their clothes scattered on the front lawn, but there is no sign of the boys. Did they perhaps escape the slaughter?

Hmm, thats a good question. I always assumed that they were 'eaten' as well.

I had always thought they were off doing their own thing while the females do their girly stuff in the classroom, and then ran outside with the rest to see why they were all so excited.
And...well...you know what happens next. >>;

Yeah, but why don't you see their clothes, too, if that is the case?

You know, I never noticed that. Do you think maybe they ran away at some point shortly after Wendy started getting insanely violent? But I feel like Jennifer would mention that if she knew about it...so perhaps they slunk off shortly before the Stray Dog incident? Heck, maybe they got caught down by the bus stop or something.

This reminds me of something I wanted to ask. Why didn't we see the bodies? All we saw were their clothes. I thought maybe they didn't want to show dead kids in the game, but with everything else in the game I don't see why they would care about that. Also, how did they die? I assumed they were shot since there was only one bullet in Gregory's gun. (Why would he go on a killing spree with only one bullet?). But, then, we also didnt hear gunshots.....or did we?

According to the newspaper story (which we can assume Jennifer to have reasonably clear memories of, given her thoughts on it in the Once Upon a Time chapter), Jennifer was the only survivor of the Stray Dog incident.
As far as the bodies go... I want to say that having the mangled corpses of human children pretty much guarantees an M rating and the RoR team was already skirting the edges of what they could get away with. But in the game's context, it may be that it wasn't something Jennifer wanted to remember-- that is, she wanted to remember what happened, but she didn't want to remember what it looked like, because who really wants to get an eyeful of that? She may have completely blocked it from her memory, and not being able to remember the bodies is what triggered the mindtrip in the first place-- that she might have lost all of those memories forever if she didn't strive to reclaim them.
The way I see it, the Stray Dog scene in the game is probably as accurate as anyone could ask for in terms of what actually happened: Wendy stole the gun when she broke Jennifer out of Gregory's house and hid it somewhere, which explains why Gregory never killed himself before that, and Wendy was able to train him-- by then, he was just insane.
He wasn't intending to go on a killing spree with one bullet: the bullet was for himself. Wendy set him on the children probably doing the same things he does to Jennifer in the game, which is swipe at them and pin them and inevitably crush them under his weight; he's not a small man, after all, even to Jennifer who is twice the size of any of the other orphans. He probably just broke all their necks.

The newspaper may say she was the only survivor, but they would not know if the boys were adopted beforehand or escaped during the slaughter. It seems doubtful any records were being kept, and Jen lost all of her memories.

Remember that Jen's memory is not indicative of what actually happened. So things did not have to match with reality. It could just be the boys weren't there because Jen never knew them as well as the girls so she doesn't remember them in her memory (the boys are much less frequent in her memory overall). As for where the kids are, Jen could just be sanitizing her memory. She doesn't want to remember a ripped up body.
Or it could just as easily be people toning down an already controversial game. It's already bad enough that people see Jen in a coffin and say you win by burying a girl. Imagine seeing Stray Dog among ripped up orphans. People would be saying the purpose of the game is to rip up children limb to limb. Even that wouldn't fly in Japan.

I could have sworn I saw at least Thomas's shirt beside Meg's clothes near the gate...
The others I'm not sure of. They really weren't anywhere to be found, were they? Maybe they were off playing in the rain and Stray Dog caught them before anyone else. Jennifer does mention something about playing in the rain in January.

I'm amazed you guys paid enough attention to the boys to keep track of who's who. I have no idea what boy is what, much less what they were wearing.

Well, I like to give alternate characters in my mind when I play the game so I had to remember who's who to keep the flow right.

i can't remember what all the boys were wearing, but i think at least one of them was wearing a white long sleeved shirt like joshua's. so at least one of them might have gotten snuffed prior to stray dog's big debut.

To borrow from bucketknight, if memory serves me correctly, I think Xavier had on a striped shirt and Thomas of course had his little wifebeater thing. I can't for the life of me remember what Nicolas had on, but I'm willing to bet it's a button down shirt.
