True, especially since the cause of everything was more or less tragic. A story with a tragic beginning, and a tragic end. Just like a fairytale.

Can there never be happiness for our hero?;-;
We also have to wonder the specifics of how the kids died...plus why just before that level, we see normal Gregory standing outside of the gate.

I have to agree with the other party on that part. No jury would hold a child resposible for what they were doing because children aren't capable of logical thought yet. They see everything as a game and don't really understand when they do something wrong, or something is wrong. Gregory can't be held resposible either because, to but it bluntly he was crazy. But Wendy probably didn't understand what she was doing either as at that age one can rarely seperate 'play' from real life. Wendy was young, and didn't understand what harm she was doing. While she may come to terms with it and see the wrong as she gets older, she won't right now because it's just a game. Gregory, wasn't stable. Wendy was just innocent. The end result is that no one can truly be blamed for what happened, other than everyone. Because they all had a part in starting it. The Orphans for adding to Wendy's ego and letting her think she could do these things. Wendy for doing such awful things, even if she didn't understand them. And Jennifer for leaving Gregory, only to abandon Wendy, the one who had 'saved her' and replacing her with a dog. OMG! Thank you! That's totally what I meant! I obviously did not potray it well, but thanks to you... I'll admit that it's probable that Wendy intended to have people killed. "Killed" doesn't mean the same thing to children that it means to us. When you're nine and you "kill" your friend, they stand back up and you start all over again. When Jenny slapped the living hell out of Wendy, that was the "death" of Princess Wendy. But Wendy herself was still alive, yeah? I mean, yeah, they're orphans and way back then, children were not taken away for abuse and the like. But England nineteen thirties... That was when the white plague made brief come back, right? Children were taken away before their parents died in hopes of sparing them from infection. There was also the World War, and kids couldn't see their fathers die on the front lines (for the most part). If you never experience real death, you can't understand it. You can only guess and imitate. Which is what I think Wendy was trying to do. It's just unfortunate that Gregory wasn't in any state to keep himself under any sense of control and everything went as far as it did.

But Wendy HAS killed before, so she has experienced it and the heavy consequences it can have. Have you read some of the previous posts? Might wish to respond to them, lest it seem like you are disregarding them as the above post would suggest.

Wonder what caused Wendy to be so sinister yet the quiet type before she entered the orphanage?

I think it started at the orphanage. She was always sick and could never play with the other kids, so she had no real friends. Then she met Jennifer. Even though Jennifer did not want to leave her "home", Wendy spent MONTHS persuading her until she agreed. She obviously would do ANYTHING for that friendship.
